E: Engagement

The most important aspect of any administration or governing body should be to actively engage students in the election process as well as decision making. With less than 20% of the student body voting in elections every year, there is a lack of engagement on both ends: the student body as well as Purdue Student Government. In addition, the growing size and lack of strong leadership and organization has created several gaps between the student population and members of PSG.

The Problem:

The student culture at Purdue has become very separated in the sense that students only have constant exposure to the parts they are directly involved in. Due to this, several events on campus go unnoticed and are not as large as they should be. Student organizations are also unable to rely on Purdue Student Government to promote events due to a lack of constant communication.

Our Solution:

By reforming PSG to include ambassadors from the various student organizations on campus, we hope to open constant lines of communication to better promote the multitude of events taking place on campus on a daily basis. We would also like to lift restrictions on RSOs that prohibit clubs receiving SFAB funding from co-hosting events. In doing so, we hope to enable more student cooperation and engagement across the Boilermaker community.
