O: Opportunities
When committing to college, students come with the intention of getting a degree and securing a job but also fulfilling personal goals. These personal goals can be anything from professional development to passing a bill to hosting events on campus. It is important that students and the organizations they are involved in receive the appropriate support and funding for events that they feel will best impact the student population in a positive manner.

The Problem:
Student organizations on campus are often limited to what they can accomplish due to a lack of resources available to them. The problem stems from a lack of organization and structure amongst the hundreds of groups on campus and thousands of students. There is also a lack of communication in what the different funding organizations on campus are prioritizing and what the student body would like to prioritize. As a result, proper resources are not being dedicated to organizations that typically host large events pertinent to student culture and philanthropy.
Our Solution:
We will begin by attempting to consolidate events on campus that are similar in objective by working with registered student organizations to co-host events and minimize costs. Any extra funds should be allocated to SFAB grants to meet the increasing demands of larger student events on campus. We will also work to defray the costs of events funded through SFAB grants by implementing a system that will allow student organizations to share resources and equipment to co-host large, campus wide events. To fix the problem of prioritization and lack of communication we plan to reform the structure of PSG which can be found under the Reform tab.
Outlined below are specific initiatives we’d like to help facilitate for students to have their voices heard:

Greek Life – Helping students involved in Greek Life work with the administration and lawmakers to create a plan to best ensure the continuation of Greek Life while creating a safe and healthy environment.

International Students – Although international students live here for four years, they are unable to vote in the election of our politicians. As a result, the have no direct way to voice concerns about laws that may affect their living conditions here. We would like to establish a town-hall style event for international student to speak directly with their elected officials, so they may have a way to voice their opinions as well.

The Armory – Several students have come forward with the unsafe conditions in the armory that are a result infrastructure issues. In order to solve these issues, we hope to work with the administration to ensure the safety of our students utilizing this great campus resource.
